Nearby fault interaction within the double-vergence suture in eastern Taiwan during the 2022 Chihshang earthquake sequence

چکیده
Abstract Nearby faults interact through stress changes induced by fault slip and viscoelastic flow. The process is, however, often elusive can be geometry-dependent time-variant. Here, we combine geodetic field observations to characterize the interaction of two head-to-head, conjugate in eastern Taiwan during 2022 Chihshang earthquake sequence. We map coseismic on Central Range dynamically-triggered shallow Longitudinal Valley fault, which has been creeping interseismically. Overlapping seismic aseismic suggests that is capable hosting a variety distinct behaviors. Moreover, substantial suppresses Coulomb vice versa, resulting bursts an out-of-phase pattern as seen hundred-year historical records. Such implies need for time-dependent hazard reassessment complex system.

متن کاملheterogeneity within the orientalist discourse: representation of the orient in womens travelogues and mens paintings
from 1950s onward, new theories and critical approaches burgeoned across humanities. these theories were context-oriented; as a result, the analysis of discursive practices gained significance. thus, social, political, historical and cultural discourses that have been hitherto marginalized and considered inferior to literary texts, were introduced as important texts to be analyzed by critics. o...
the effect of e-64 on the developmental competence of sheep cocs during in vitro maturation
in the present study, the effect of e-64 at different concentrations (0.5, 1, 5 and 10 µm) added to (1) the ivm medium on oocyte nuclear maturation and developmental competence of ovine oocytes, and (2) to the ivc medium on embryonic development of ovine embryos were investigated.
Variability of repeating earthquake behavior along the Longitudinal Valley fault zone of eastern Taiwan
[1] Two major clusters of repeating earthquake sequences (RES) are found on two fault patches near the Longitudinal Valley fault (LVF) in eastern Taiwan, the Chihshang segment to the south and the Hualien segment to the north. The 25 M 2.3–4.6 RES on the Hualien segment are widely distributed in a NNE direction over a distance of 45 km, whereas on the Chihshang segment, the 30 M 2.2–3.4 RES hav...
متن کاملEvidence for fault lubrication during the 1999 Chi-Chi, Taiwan, earthquake (Mw7.6)
[1] The ground motion data of the 1999 Chi-Chi, Taiwan, earthquake exhibit a striking difference in frequency content between the north and south portions of the rupture zone. In the north, the ground motion is dominated by large lowfrequency displacements with relatively small high-frequency accelerations. The pattern is opposite in the south, with smaller displacements and larger accelerations...
